Harvard Medical School

Harvard Medical School is one of the world's leading medical schools, with a mission to create and nurture a community of the best people committed to leadership in alleviating human suffering caused by disease.

Project

As Senior Bioinformatics Specialist in a proteomics lab specializing in mass spectrometry, I worked with researchers to determine the functional requirements for tools that would enable them to view, manipulate and analyze the large amounts of data produced in this area of computational biology. I created and maintained command-line and web-based tools to pre- and post-process large amounts of raw instrument data, facilitate searches of this data against large protein databases, and visualize the resulting information. I was also the system administrator of the lab's linux cluster comprised of over 50 processors, multiple storage arrays, and a number of users accessing the system through interactive logins, batch jobs, web services and Windows file sharing clients.
