How to burn a DVD From a .img file
These are instructions for burning a DVD disc when what you’ve been given is a .img (Disk Image) file. The instructions are for users of MacOS X. If you’re using Windows or Linux, check Google for other pages like this.
Note: before you follow any of the instructions below, make sure the .img file is on your hard drive and not on a CD, DVD, etc.
If you have Roxio Toast
- Find the .img file on your hard drive and CTRL+click the icon
- Choose Toast It from the popup menu
If you don’t have Toast, but you have MacOS X 10.3 or later
- Open the Disk Utility program (you’ll find it in the Utilities folder in Applications)
- If you don’t see your .img file in the list to the left, drag the .img file into the list on the left
- Select the .img file from the list and click Burn
If you don’t have Toast, and your MacOS X is older than 10.3
- Open the Disk Copy program (you’ll find it in the Utilities folder in Applications)
- From the File menu, choose Burn Image (Tip: Don’t open the .img file before choosing Burn Image)
- Locate the .img file in the file selection box that appears
- Click Burn
