Karlstein Castle, Czech Republic
In a dimly lit chapel inside of Karlstein Castle, I noticed this relief carving in the end of a wooden pew. At first glance, my eyes saw thing in the upper-left of the sketch. Turns out it was a heraldic lion – more like the drawing under it. Later, I redrew the guy (in black) to be closer to what I thought I saw when I was there next to the pew.
I thought it would be cool to sketch every case of mistaken identity like this. This seems to happen to me fairly often. It’s either a case of poor eyesight or an overactive imagination.
